Denver Strickling
Denver Strickling of Layton, Utah, passed away peacefully in his home on September 7 th , 2014.
Denver was born in Neon, Kentucky on April 3 rd , 1949 to Dennis Strickling and Deloria Johnson. He had one Brother (Douglas) and three Sisters (Louise, Edna, Helen). He was a father of two boys (Denver, Earl) and four girls (Mercedes, Bridgette, Bernadette, Helen).
He was married to Susan Lee Thomas on October 2, 1974. She was the love of his life and his best friend until the day she died on March 31 st , 2013.
Denver was a Marine War Veteran who served for nine years, including two tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 1975.
He worked as an Airline Mechanic for Sky West for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Denver is survived by his son Earl (Desiree), son Denver Lee (Gabrielle) and daughters Mercedes, Bernadette, Bridgette, and Helen. He was also survived by 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Susan, his parents, sister Edna and brother Douglas.
The greatness of a man’s life is measured by the legacy and footprint he leaves behind. The goodness, love in his heart, and the lives he touched and made better. Denver was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great friend.
Friends may visit family Friday, September 12, 2014 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Military honors will be accorded at 4 p.m. at the mortuary.
