Denzil W. Hansen passed away from complication of pneumonia, on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at McKay-Dee Hospital.
He was born March 2, 1923 in Newdale, Idaho to James Wallace and Flora Widdison Hansen. His father passed away when Denzil was eight years old, his mother then married O. Lee Stoddard and they moved to Hooper, Utah.
Denzil graduated from Weber High School. During World War II, he was a Petty Officer 1st Class in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in New Caledonia. After the war, he served a mission for the LDS Church in the Western States Mission.
On November 9, 1951, Denzil married his loving wife, Charlene Peek in the Logan LDS Temple.
He worked for Carter''s Supply Company and Stover TV Repair. After retirement, he drove cars for Sherm''s Store Auto Sales.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz. He had many friends and was loved and admired by young and old.
Denzil is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Charlene P. Hansen, Hooper; sons, Brett Hansen, Riverside; Bart (Shery) Hansen, Hooper; daughters, Becky Hansen, Hilo, HI: Cassie (Lanny) Latta, Orange, TX; daughter-in-law, Tiffany Voss, Layton; nine grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Hal (Joyce) Stoddard, Hooper; and Don (Virginia) Hansen, Smithfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to Dr. Ben McEntire, Dr. Joel Pittman, the medical staff at McKay-Dee Hospital and Pine View Care Center for their kindness, care and concern. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at the Hooper Pioneer Trail Ward Chapel, 5000 South 5900 West.
The family will meet with friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
