SOUTH OGDEN- Deon Choules Saunders passed from this life on July 11, 2011 surrounded by family who were honored to call her mom, grandma and great-grandma. Everyone in the family knew that they were her "favorite".

She was born June 3, 1931 in Fairview, Idaho to Oliver J. and Myrtle Thompson Choules.

Deon married her High School sweetheart, Conn R. Hampton on November 23, 1949 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with one daughter, Michelle. Many years later they divorced.

January 2, 1976 she married Carl R. Saunders, who became the light of her life. Together they traveled the world! They also served missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala, Ecuador, and Bolivia.

Throughout her life she served in the various organizations of the Church and was currently an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple. She was also active in the Republican Party, calling herself "a Political Junkie". She loved books and was an avid reader. She loved life!

Deon is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Hans) Parkinson, and her children, Richard (Sue) Saunders, Cynthia (Ned) Israelsen, Teri (Bertley) Hunt, Mark (Sheila) Saunders, Susan (Jeff) Gardner, Nancy (Curtis) Wolthuis. Deon felt very blessed that they were all a part of her life and was so grateful for her wonderful, energetic and amazing 31 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and some special add-ons. She is also survived by her sister, Dineen (Jan) Eberhard and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R. Saunders, her parents, one brother, Max Choules, and three sisters, Joyce Bowles, Guelda Clayson and Treva Hall.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Weber Stake Center, 5855 Skyline Drive, Ogden, Utah.

Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Interment, Fairview Cemetery, Idaho
