Derald V. Johnson "Johnny"

Derald V (Johnny) Johnson passed away the morning of January, 14, 2009 due to incidents of age in Bountiful, Utah. He was 81 years old.

He was born March 15, 1927 in Ogden, Utah to Vernal Nels and Thelma Anderson Johnson. He married LaRae Ferrin on September 6, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have four daughters.

Johnny graduated from Ogden High School in May of 1945, where he played the drums in a Jazz band. After graduation he was drafted into the Army and served in Japan for 18 months. On returning home he attended Weber State College and the University of Utah. He received his CPA certificate and his Masters of Business from the University of Utah. He was employed by the University of Utah and also the Board of Regents until his retirement.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having many callings in the church and loved teaching the youth. He loved to fish with his father and brother-in-law. He loved golf, planning and playing in many church tournaments became a joy for many years.

He volunteered at Temple Square for five years and loved the calling. He also volunteered at Lakeview Hospital where he was Volunteer of the month and formed many friendships during those years.

He is survived by his wife LaRae of 58 years; daughters Peggy (Tony) Moyeda, San Diego, CA; Vicki Johnson-Mischler, Escondido, CA; Sharon (Don) Edwards, Sandy, UT; Denise (Clarke) Tingey, Centerville, UT; 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four sisters and four brothers. Preceding him in death are his parents and one brother.

To the ladies at SantAC. Assisted Living Center in North Salt Lake many thanks for the love and special care they gave to Johnny. Thanks to Hospice for their help and assistance in his care.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Bountiful 54th Ward Chapel, 540 N. 1200 E. Friends and family may call Sunday, Jan. 18th from 6-8 pm at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and 10 a€" 10:45 am at the church prior to services. Interment Lakeview Memorial, 1640 E.
