Born April 18, 1970 in Ogden, Utah to Bruce Edward and Cheri Ann Christensen Anderson. He grew up in Riverdale, Utah graduating from Bonneville High School in 1988 and attended Weber State University. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know Derek knew of his caring heart and his love for those around him, friends, and strangers alike.
On September 18, 1992, Derek, married the love of his life and best friend, Alicia Adams in South Ogden, Utah. During their 24 years of marriage they had two children, Devan and Lauren. The family lived in Clearfield for 8 years before moving to Roy for the past 16 years.
Derek, also known as Homer, had an incredible knack and mechanical genius when it came to automobiles and projects; he had the ability to fix most anything. For 26 years he was known for specialized custom exhaust work much to the thrill of his friends and customers for the power and sound and to the horror of their wives when they could hear them coming down the block. Derek truly loved his work and every morning he was excited for the new challenge. He enjoyed being creative and always had numerous ideas/projects he was working on to make things better. Even after several back surgeries he could be found fixing vehicles and helping others whenever they needed something. Derek’s latest adventure was working for Trampoline Parks, LLC. He enjoyed learning new skills and was promoted into research and development for his exceptional problem solving skills.
Derek’s outgoing, social personality made him a friend to all. His knack and know how on finding solutions to fix things and his willingness to share his talent made him the ultimate handyman. He loved his family and enjoyed cooking for them and traveling to new places. His light was extinguished far too soon and those of us left behind will miss his laughter, fun nature, and quirky sense of humor.
