Derreck Z. Ball
OGDEN – Derreck Zane Ball, 31, was reunited with his mother, DonnaLee Ball on Sunday, January 31, 2010 surrounded by those he loved after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born December 11, 1978 in Ogden, a son of LeRoy Christian and DonnaLee Robinson Ball.
Derreck was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a mission to the Italy Catana Mission where he also served as a Branch President.
On October 15, 2004, Derreck married Randee Lee Waters in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He graduated from Weber State University with Bachelor Degrees in Criminalistics and Psychology.
Derreck loved soccer and the Shok79 team. He also loved music and played the bass, drums, and guitar. He formed a band with his friends that summed up the role he played in everyone’s life, Everyday Heros. He enjoyed spending time on the family farm in Willard with his brothers. All children were drawn to Derreck. He loved his nieces and nephews with all his heart. He had a great smile. Derreck loved his sweet wife who was the light of his eyes. She stood by his side through his courageous battle to the end.
He was the assistant parts manager for Westland Ford in Ogden. The family wishes to thank the Westland Ford family for their love and support.
Surviving are his wife, Randee, of Ogden; his father, LeRoy (Hae), Ogden; brothers, Rob (Teresa) Ball, Layton; Ken Ball, Harrisville; Chad (Kady) Ball, Willard; his sissy, Karen (Ted) Wright, Clinton; mother-in-law, Shelley and her children; father-in-law, Ron (Deb); and his dogs, Hondo and Olive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Lewis Stake Center, 1200 North Monroe Blvd.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
