DeVola King Hayes
March 21, 1930 ~ October 11, 2007
LAYTON, UTAH – DeVola King Hayes, 77, died Thursday, October 11, 2007, at her home in Layton, Utah, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born March 21, 1930, in Logan, Utah, to John Jacobs King and Ruby Evangeline Nelson. When she was two years old her mother passed away and so her sister, Violet King Nuhn, raised her. DeVola married Robert Eskelson Hayes on November 16, 1951, in the LDS temple in Hawaii. They had five children. They were later divorced in November 1989.
DeVola was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has served in the temple, Primary, Relief Society and Young women’s organizations. She always had a strong faith and belief in God. She knew that He did hear and answer her prayers. She was a great friend to all those that she came in contact with. Her one great gift was to love unconditionally.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters, Maurine (Neilson), Violet (Nuhn), Norma, Ruby Marie, and brother, Jack, her niece, Ruby (Wilson); her daughter, Barbara Dee.
She is survived by her children, Vickie (Marv) Paxton, Cedar City, Utah; Robert (Joene) Hayes, Camdenton, Missouri; Larry Hayes, Layton, Utah; and Michael (Emiliya) Hayes, Layton, Utah; her brother, Andrew King, Logan, Utah; and sister, Elaine Ferrin, Pahrump, Nevada; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 15, 2007 at 11 am. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Logan City Cemetery.
