SPRINGVILLE - July 5, 2008 is a day our family will remember as the day Dad passed from this life''s mission to the next. He was taken far too soon after a brief battle with advanced cancer of the liver and colon.

His greatest joy in this life was his marriage to Susan Gail Welke. They were sealed in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple after Dewayne returned from the West German Mission. Dewayne and Susan enjoyed many years together faithfully serving in the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in various wards in Roy and Kaysville.

Dad spent much of his career as a Railroad Mechanical inspector for the Union Pacific Railroad. His favorite memories included spending time with his family on the family ranch, and working together with his wife and six children on one of the many projects Dad always had for us. Dad also enjoyed camping, travelling, car restoration, and computers.

Dewayne is survived by his beautiful bride, Susan; his loving parents, George and Verna Olsen; his brother Darwin (Kim) Olsen; his sisters Anette (Ken) Allen and Marlene (Kevin) Balsar; and his wonderful children: Jessaca (Kenny) Hammon, Rebecca (Joshua) Howe, Cassandra S. Olsen, Tamara M. Olsen, Spencer (Marci) Olsen, Grant K. Olsen, and 13 grandchildren with more on the way.

He was preceded in his passing by his beloved brother, Carol LeRoy Olsen, and his grandparents.

The family would like to express our appreciation to all the extended family members, friends, and ward members that have selflessly provided love and support at this difficult time. In particular, the family would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for Dad''s dear friends and associates at the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends and family may attend a viewing on Wednesday, July 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 1:00 to 1:45 prior to the service.

Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
