DeWayne C. Thorne
KAYSVILLE - DeWayne Charles Thorne passed away at his home Saturday, October 20, 2007 surrounded by his family. Born in a log cabin in Burley, Idaho on April 30, 1914, he was the son of Rondy and Annie Olsen Thorne. Shortly after graduating from Cyprus High, he joined the CCC’s acquiring many skills and new friendships.
On August 9, 1937, DeWayne married the love of his life, Melba Farmer. They were later married for time and all eternity and sealed as a family on June 3, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
DeWayne and Melba were long-time residents of Kaysville while he was employed at Hill Air Force Base as a Sheetmetal Worker/Inspector, retiring after 30 years of service. Shortly after retiring, DeWayne and Melba embarked on their missionary and temple service. Their five missions included North Carolina, Tonga, England, Philippines, and Colorado with interludes of being Temple Ordinance Workers at the Ogden and Bountiful Temples between each mission.
DeWayne will be long remembered for his vegetable garden, along with his love of hunting, fishing and golf.
DeWayne was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Melba, their children: Lynn (RuthAnn), Dennis (Lee), Rick (LaNita), Larry (Judy), Heitonga (Randy) Maynes; 20 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Rock Chapel, 2nd East and Center Street, Kaysville. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Rock Chapel.
