RIVERDALE – DeWayne Van Denakker, 53, our beloved husband, father, and son, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2014 from an enlarged heart and pneumonia.  He was born on September 10, 1960 in Ogden, Utah the son of Wayne and Gloria Van Denakker.

He married Sheri Liljenquist on June 14, 1985 in Brigham City, Utah.  Together they had two beautiful sons, Brody and Justin.

He worked as a correctional officer for Weber County and was an excellent marksman, with a top shooting score at the police academy.  He loved fishing and hunting and was a meticulous landscaper.  Numerous strangers stopped by to compliment him on his lawn.

DeWayne’s greatest passion in life was bodybuilding and he was honored to pass this gift onto his sons.  He was so kind-hearted and witty, and will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

DeWayne is survived by his wife, Sheri; sons, Brody and Justin; and mother, Gloria.  He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne; and a half-brother and half-sister, Bryon and Christine.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.  Cremation to follow. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

A luncheon will be served after the service at Washington Heights Church, 1770 East 6200 South, Ogden.
