Dewey Roberts Pearce, age 86, of Layton, Utah, passed away on April 28, 2019 due to a short illness. He was born June 6, 1932 in Logan, Utah to George Howells and Emily Roberts Pearce.
He attended elementary school in Paradise, Utah and graduated from South Cache High School where he participated in football, basketball, and baseball.
On May 3, 1951 he married Donna Marie Nielsen in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. They lived in Layton since 1955. They had four sons.
He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1990 after 40 years of service.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He coached his sons in Little League Football, Basketball, and Baseball. He also enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren participate in their activities.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various positions throughout his life. At the time of death, he was a High Priest in the Woodland Park Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two older brothers, George and Ralph, sister, Mattie, and granddaughter, Shaylyne Marie Pearce.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, D. Michael (Wendy) of Nibley, Utah; Rodney of Logan, Utah; Jeffrey (Richelle) of Kaysville, Utah; and Steven of Pocatello, Idaho; sister, Wanda Burrell of Washington Terrace, Utah; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
