Diana Lou Brown, age 77, passed away May 2, 2019 in her home in Layton, Utah from kidney failure and vascular dementia. Her last hours were spent in the company of her husband and two of her children. Diana was born on December 11, 1941 to David and Audrey Askins in Baltimore, MD. Her family moved to California in 1944. She grew up in Woodland Hills where she met Robert Brown in 1957. They were married on July 24, 1959 and later moved to Thousand Oaks where she started raising three of her children.
In 1972 the family moved to Utah and built their dream home in Layton. Her fourth child was born there to complete her family. Diana was a devoted stay-at-home mom who loved all things about homemaking. She was very shy and preferred working at home caring for the kids and helping her husband with finishing the basement, landscaping the new home and just being there for everyone.
In February 2002 she suffered a debilitating stroke that left her unable to read or write and therefore not able to drive. She was no longer able to take the grandkids out for birthdays or do many of the things that she so enjoyed. She eventually managed to recover enough to get around the house on her own but years of Diabetic nerve pain and medications took a toll on her body.
Diana is preceded in death by her father David Askins, her step-father Alan Breed and her mother Audrey Breed. She is survived by her husband Robert; sons, Daniel, Christopher and Jason: daughter, Jennifer Knudson; seven grandchildren, and her brothers, Christopher and Mark Breed.
Diana’s family would like to thank the caregivers at Rocky Mountain Hospice especially Jacoy who helped us understand and deal with her final days and Yesse, who brought Diana comfort and even a few smiles during the last weeks of her life.
