DianaLee Thorsted, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on March 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 7, 1946, to Theodore and Dorothy (Heath) Bowers raised in Nyssa, Idaho, DianaLee later moved with her family to Ontario, Oregon. Growing up on the family farm, she worked alongside her five brothers, learning the values of hard work, self-sufficiency, and nurturing the land. From her mother, she inherited a love for preserving food through canning, as well as a talent for sewing, quilting, singing opera and playing the piano—gifts she passed on to her six daughters.
On August 20, 1965, DianaLee married her eternal companion, Larry James Thorsted, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together, they made their home in Pasco, Washington, and later moved to Slaterville, Utah, where they raised their six daughters while running a greenhouse and dairy farm. Over the years, DianaLee and Larry shared a love for camping, fishing, and traveling, with a special fondness for trips to Alaska.
DianaLee also developed a deep interest in genealogy, taking joy in uncovering and preserving the stories of her ancestors. In her later years, she discovered a passion and remarkable talent for painting, earning multiple awards at both local and state fairs for her beautiful work.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, where she served in various callings, particularly enjoying her roles as a pianist and organist. Outside the church, she was dedicated to her community, serving as a member of the Pioneer Elementary PTA, teaching 4-H to children in the area, sewing costumes for the West Weber Elementary School choir and member of Daughters of the Pioneers.
DianaLee's legacy lives on through her loving husband, Larry James Thorsted of Slaterville, UT; her six daughters, LeAnn Thorsted, Annette (Dave) Hansen of Willard, UT, Kathleen Thorsted (Steve McKay) of South Ogden, UT, Amy (David) Child of Ogden, UT, Nancy (Steven) Boyer of Roseburg, OR, and Kimberly Thorsted (John Catasca) of Richmond, UT; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Claire (Darlene) Bowers of Ontario, Oregon, Kent (Terry) Bowers Ontario, Oregon and Loren (Robyn) Bowers of Weiser, ID, all of whom she cherished and spent many joyful moments with. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Ted (Jennie) Bowers of Doyle, California and James (Audry) Bowers.
DianaLee will be deeply missed, but her memory and the lessons she taught will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the years of support from all of the members of the Marriott-Slaterville and neighbors over the years for all their love and support. As well to the nurses at the Visiting Angels that assist with care for our mother through her final days.
