Diane Elaine Thomas Balbach passed away 6 Jan. 2022 in Washington Terrace. She was born 7 April 1938, in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Willis Madison Thomas and his 2nd wife, Ella Woodward. Diane had one other sister named Carole and some other siblings from her father’s first wife.  She attended Ogden High School and was married her senior year on 13 Feb. 1956 to James Sewell at Evanston, Uinta, Wyoming. She and James were parents of two children: Craig Sewell, of Portland, Oregon and Jill Sewell, who is deceased. James and Diane were later divorced.

Diane married (2) 28 Feb. 1975, Grant Rich Humpherys, at Clearfield, Davis, Utah and they were later sealed in the Ogden Temple, 12 July 1983. Grant died 17 April 1985 of a massive heart attack in Ogden. He was buried at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park in Ogden.

She married (3) 25 Nov. 1989, at Elko, Elko, Nevada, Paul August Balbach Jr. Diane was Paul’s third wife. He had several children by his first wife. Paul died 21 Oct. 2000, at Ogden, Utah. He was laid to rest at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch in Ogden.

Diane loved her cat, Tommy and missed him when she moved out of her trailer at Viking Villa, Ogden.

She is survived by her son, Craig Sewell and his daughter, Katie; also Shari Humpherys Franke, (Don), of Uintah Highlands and Carl Lindquist Humpherys, (Chris), of South Weber and their large families. Also, by a very dear friend, Teresa Peterson Warth (Phillip), of Paul, Idaho.

She was buried Monday, Jan. 10th at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
