Diane Ekstrom

Diane Ekstrom Our loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend, Diane Ekstrom, 69, passed away on May 24, 2013 at McKay Dee Hospital. She was born on November 16, 1943 in Ogden, a daughter of Elmer Empey and Eva Gean Campbell Ekstrom. She grew up in Ogden, attending Ben Lomond High School where she was proud to be a Bonnie Lassie. She later moved to California, and later returned to Utah to eventually settle in Roy. Diane married Wendell LaRay Elmer on June 26, 1964 and together they had one son and three lovely daughters. They later divorced. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings, including many years in the Relief Society. She enjoyed camping, fishing, water skiing, horseback riding, and gardening, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was notorious for preparing far too much food at family gatherings—often cooking for 100 even if only around thirty people were expected. She spent over thirty years helping with the family pizza business, but first and foremost, she was a wonderful mother and homemaker. Diane is survived by her mother, Eva Gean Ekstrom of Harrisville; son, David Elmer of Roy; daughters, Kelley Cantu of Roy, Tiffany (Dan) Brewer of West Haven, and Melissa Lowder of West Haven; sisters, Cheryl (Ron) Smith of Winnsbro, Texas and Becky (Kirk) Rigby of North Ogden; brother, Steve Ekstrom; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Ekstrom, and both sets of grandparents. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South in Roy. Family will meet with friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday morning from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
