Dick J. Cox
WEST HAVEN – Dick J. Cox, 78, died Monday, July 19, 2010 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.
He was born March 6, 1932 in Fairview, Utah, a son of Orren M. and Nellie Doris Young Cox.
On January 19, 1952, Dick married Lenna Maxine Johnson in Huntsville. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2003.
He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Dick worked for Mt. Fuel Gas Company as a gas specialist for many years.
The first love in his life was his sweetheart wife, Lenna, and his second love in life was his music. In the many years of playing, he made demo records and on occasion would be a backup singer for Ernest Tubbs and Chris LeDoux. Dick loved to go bowling, traveling at the spur of the moment, and in his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and would do anything for them. Dick had a very big heart for those he cared for and would drop everything to help in any way he could.
Surviving are one son, Kevin Cox, Coaville, UT; his daughters, Dorothy Wilkerson, Idaho Falls, ID; Linda (Steven) Sweat, Wendover, NV; Jeanette (William) Jory, Farr West; Carol (Larry) Stone, West Haven; 20 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Lois, Nina, and Judy.
Preceding Dick in death were his wife, parents, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters.
Graveside service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
Family will meet with friends at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
