Dick C. Seamons
PLEASANT VIEW – Dick C. Seamons, beloved husband, father and grandfather, left this earthly plane on Tuesday, October 16, 2007.
He was born November 6, 1926 in Smithfield, Utah, to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur G. Seamons. His early education was obtained in Cache County schools. At South Cache High School in Hyrum, he is remembered as an exceptional football and basketball player before graduating in 1945.
Col. Seamons received his Bachelor of Science in Arts and Sciences from Utah State University in 1948 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri in 1953.
He married his high school sweetheart, the former LaVoe Hall, on June 24, 1947, in the Logan LDS Temple. They are parents to two sons: Lucas Kevin and Dr. Braden C. and Mrs. Seamons (Edi). They are proud grandparents of Lauren and Helana, Zaxtyn and Skyler, whom they frequently visit at their homes in Portland, Oregon and Honolulu, Hawaii.
Col. Seamons fulfilled a distinguished 28-year military career. He served more than five years with the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He served as the Dental Commander at Minot AFB, Minot, ND; and Bitburg AFB, Bitburg, Germany.
He received Meritorious Service Medals for outstanding service as Chief, Dental Services, USAF Hospital, Hill AFB, Utah, 1976 to 1980. Also, as Director of Dental Services at Malcolm Grow USAF Medical Center, Andrews AFB, Washington, D.C., 1980 to 1981, where he retired on the first day of October 1981.
Col. Seamons and LaVoe have enjoyed his retirement after settling in Pleasant View. They particularly enjoyed traveling to Japan. Other favorite destinations were Southern and Northern California.
Col. Seamons and his brother Darrell and friends enjoyed playing golf at Hill AFB three times a week for many years. Frequently he met his buddies at the base for breakfast and a round of talking over world problems.
His brothers and sisters are: Helen Ferguson, sister-in-law Gladys Seamons, Darrell Seamons, Bonnie and LaMont Hall, Jack and Connie Seamons.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Hill Air Force Base Honor Guard.
