Dolores Fay Davis

Clearfield a€" Dolores Fay Davis, 78, passed away February 7, 2013 at Chancellor Gardens. She was born May 23, 1934 to Henry and Verba Chloe Sessions Buckway in Ogden. She attended Ogden High School and later received her CNA license through McKay-Dee Hospital, where she worked for several years, but spent most of her life as a devoted homemaker.

Dolores married Leroy Carroll in 1951 in San Bernadino, California. They were later divorced. She married Joseph Patrick Davis on April 1, 1960 in Ogden. Joseph died January 1, 1988.

Although she lived in California and South Carolina for some time, she lived most of her life in Utah, which she called home.

Dolores was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed participating in The Relief Society. She was an active volunteer for the Democratic Party of Utah and was also a ''Pink Lady'', volunteering at St. Benedicts Hospital and McKay-Dee Hospital for many years.

Dolores was affectionately known as the ''Cake Lady'' a€" she never forgot a birthday and you didn''t even have to be a close relative to receive a card or cake. Even her children''s friends were remembered on their special day. Dolores wasn''t that organized and didn''t try to keep track, she just knew, and her ability to remember and include everyone was simply amazing. She will also be fondly remembered for her Christmas sugar cookies.

Dolores helped raise her siblings and throughout her earlier years developed her nurturing motherly talents, her great patience, and her selfless generosity. When Dolores had her own family she ''took in all the strays'' a€" she was the ''neighborhood mom.'' Her enduring spirit included a great sense of humor, and she was always very affectionate and loving.

Dolores is survived by her sons Thomas J. (Susie) Davis, Mountain Green and Maurice P. Davis, Boise, ID; daughters, Kathy D. Davis, Boise, ID; Pamela D. (Gary) Monnot and Cherie Davis Witter, all of Ogden, Julie D. (Richard) Booth, Park City, and Diana J. (Randy) Martin, Sandy; brother, Dallas H. Buckway, Uintah; sisters, Sharon J. Furniss, South Ogden, and Sandra K. Richardson, Ogden; 31 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; sons, Steven L. Carroll and Brian P. Davis; by three grandchildren; and by her brother, Vernon R. Buckway.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will follow at the Clearfield City Cemetery, where she will be buried next to her son, Steven.
