Dominic Edward Pecorella

Dominic Edward Pecorella, 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016.  He was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Dominic Pecorella and Letizia Candiloro Pecorella.  He was raised in Brooklyn, New York and Lawrence, Massachusetts.  Ed graduated from Lawrence High School in 1951 and was MVP of the varsity baseball team.  Before attending college, he played semi professional baseball for three years.  He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Merrimack College in Business Administration in 1958.  Shortly after graduation, he was hired by the IRS as a Revenue agent at the Andover Service Center in Massachusetts; this was the beginning of his career fast track.  He went on to a Division Chief position in Brookhaven, New York and Assistant Director of the Service Center in Ogden, Utah. Soon thereafter, he was promoted to Director and would spend the next ten years at the job he loved, in the location he loved.  He received one final promotion; to Assistant Commissioner and was transferred to Washington D.C. Three years later he retired and returned to Ogden, Utah.

Ed married the love of his life, Nancy Lee Gearin, on July 5, 1958, who he met on a blind date.  They have two children Marisa Pecorella and Steve Pecorella.

Ed was prominent and active in the Ogden community supporting, the YWCA, Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, Ogden Opera Guild, the United Way, Rotary and YCC, as well as, the Dick Nourse Foundation for cancer research.  Ed was an avid golfer and bowler.

Ed is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Steve of Clinton, Utah; and daughter, Marisa of San Francisco, California; and one grandson, Nicholas.  He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah.  Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to Carolyn Heileson, Wendy Lee, Jill White, nurses Tracy and Anne, and also Canyon House Care and Hospice.
