Rich Clawson, 51, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024. He was born on October 4, 1972, in Ogden, Utah, the son of Don Richard and Patty Jean Williams Clawson.
He married Glenda Clark on September 13, 2003, in Ogden, Utah.
Rich worked as a Police Officer in the State of Utah for 29 years for multiple agencies throughout Weber County, Salt Lake City and finishing his career with the Utah Transit Authority Police Department. He enjoyed many assignments during his career such as SWAT, DARE, FTO and firearms. He found his truest joy as a K9 Handler, with his trusted 4-legged partner Jager. He and Jager worked the streets of Salt Lake finding narcotics and apprehending suspects with the distinguished K9 unit and his most trusted brothers in blue. He next partnered with Lucca, doing explosive detection for the UTA Police Department which has become his home and family. He loved serving the community and just bled blue to his core.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends and was a literal piece of heaven of earth. He had a heart of gold and a smile that would light up the room. It was his calling in this life to watch over, protect and help everyone he encountered. He was both a fierce protector of his family and a gentle place for them to land. His sense of humor could lighten the heaviest situation. He was loyal, kind, honest, hardworking, humble, and brought out the best in everyone around him. He was the strongest warrior and hero a family could ask for and has left a mark on everyone that knew him.
Rich is survived by his wife, Glenda of Ogden; sons, Evan (Melissa) Clawson, Adam (Laurel) Clawson, and Alex Clawson all of Ogden; daughter, Emma Clawson also of Ogden; two grandchildren, Paige (Evan and Melissa) Charlotte (Adam and Laurel); and was preceded in death by his mother, Patty.
