Don Herbert Crockett
Don Herbert Crockett passed away peacefully on September 21, 2021. He was born June 7, 1938, in Glenns Ferry, Idaho to Owen H. Crockett and Mamie L. Morgan.
Raised in Layton, Utah, he graduated from Davis High School in 1956. After graduating he married Shirlie Ray on May 1, 1958. They were married for 32 years. Don and Shirlie ran the Dipper Drive-in from the early 60’s through the early 70’s. He then began his career in real estate.
Don was a dedicated Layton City Fireman from 1960 to 1991. He also served on the Layton City Fire Corp until he passed away. He was a member of the State Fireman Association for 61 years. Don also served as a member of Layton City Council and was part of the Layton City Planning Commission.
He always loved the outdoors. Don liked hunting but shared his passion for fishing with his loved ones and friends.
Don is survived by his children Cindy (Kurt) McKinlay, Ken (Tyrin) Crockett and Kiley (Erika) Crockett. His grandchildren Cory, Tyler, BreAnne, Melanie, Nikole, Kyle, Skylar and Saige. His great grandchildren Madison, Bridger, Ty, Preslee, Allie, Gunner, Koltyn, Hudson, Rhyder, Rylee, Keegan, Kenlee, Hayden, Hunter, Paislee, Pyper, Nash, Lyla, Lincoln and Harper. His great-great grandson Jessie. Preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Dale Owen Crockett.
The family would like to thank the staff at Stonehenge Rehabilitation Center and a special thank you to Nurse Practitioner Amy.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 27, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.at the mortuary.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
