Don L Folkman

Don L. Folkman Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend Don L. Folkman, 84, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013. Don was born in Pocatello, Idaho on June 5, 1928 to Joseph T. and Lorraine Lewis Folkman. He grew up in Cache Valley and North Logan until the age of 14 when the family moved to Ogden, Utah where he lived until his passing. He graduated from Weber High School in 1946. Don married Dixie Child in June of 1947 in California. They were later divorced. Don joined the Navy and served until February of 1949. He married Lauraine Hunter in February of 1952 in Elko, Nevada. They later divorced. He married Lynda DuRain Tyler on July 24, 1987 in Elko, Nevada. Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked for Mountain Bell as a telephone repairman until his retirement after 30 years, 9 months and 8 days. He enjoyed all sports, camping, hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was loving his grandchildren and spending time with his family on the mountain. “Folky” didn’t mind a little wager now and then either. Don is survived by his wife, Lynda, Washington Terrace; sons, Greg Woodruff, Portland, OR, Randy Woodruff, Portland, OR; and Don “Bud” (Wanda) Folkman, Washington Terrace; daughter, Roxanne F. (Ron) Strickler, South Ogden; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road. A special thank you to Meridith and everyone at Intermountain Homecare for the love and care they gave to Don.
