He served in World War II from 1944 to 1946.  He then served an LDS mission in Hawaii from 1947 to 1950.  He graduated from Central Utah Vocational School.

Don married Elaine Liechty in the Manti, Utah Temple in 1954.  They raised five children, David D. (LeAnn), Sarah Ann (Paul Anderson), Cheri Dawn, Gary L. (Christine), and April (David Vance).

He worked at Hill Air Force Base in the Metrology Lab for thirty years, after which he retired.  He purchased a small farm in Layton, Utah, in 1965, where he spent much time gardening, farming and raising animals.

He served a mission with Elaine in 1985 to 1986 to southern California.  Elaine died in 1992.  He married Joyce Allred in 1999 and they served a mission to the Manila Philippines Temple in 2000 to 2001.  He served in the Ogden Temple for 17 years and served in many callings in the church.  He loved being active in the Gospel.

He was preceded in death by parents, Denzil and Lafern Jenkins and a sister, Ludene Purdue.

Don loved to snowmobile, ride ATV’s, ski, go fishing and camping.  One of his favorite places was the Granddadies in the High Uintas.  He also built and flew remote controlled airplanes.

He loved animals, especially horses, dogs and cats.  Some of his favorite fur friends were Beauty, Snowball, Chereokee, Boom, Puppy, Bartara and many others.  He loved to be outside being active and working hard.

We would like to thank all Don’s family and friends for all their support over the years.  And also a special thanks to the professionals at Brighton Hospice.
