Don Linford Lacey

March 22, 1926 ~ November 14, 2014

Don passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born March 22, 1926 to Rollon and Margaret Lacey in Oronogo, MO. He graduated from Webb City High School.  He attended Joplin Junior College.

He was a Marine in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1945.  He was in MAG 13 V.M.S.B. Group.

Don married Leta Schenk on March 26, 1952 in the Logan LDS Temple.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served 24 ½ years as a temple worker. He was recently of the Washington Terrace 4 th Ward.

Don retired from the Postal Service in 1981 after 35 years.

He enjoyed hunting and shooting. He once won the Utah State Skeet Championship. He was a member of the Ogden Gun Club and the Hill Rod and Gun Club.

Don is survived by one son, Ron (Debra) Lacey, West Haven; one daughter, Karen (Brent) Seely, West Jordan; four grandchildren, Laura Ross, Hilary White, Dana Seely, Stephen Seely, and three great-grandchildren, Gavin Lacey, Kacen White, and Kemree White.  Also surviving are two brothers, Clyde (Louise) Lacey, Brandon, MS; Bill (Betty) Lacey, Gilbert, AZ; and two sisters, Wanda (Norm) Maero, Charlotte, NC; and Genile (Jim) Richardson, South Ogden.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leta; parents, two brothers, Bob and Bernard; and two sisters, Nita and Ruth.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. with Bishop Jeremy Ward officiating.  Friends may visit family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.

The family would like to thank the Salt Lake Veterans Administration medical staff for their loving care of our father.
