Don Lee Wheelwright

March 29, 1933 ~ June 13, 2015

Don Lee Wheelwright passed away on June 13, 2015 surrounded by his family.  He was born in Ogden, Utah on March 29, 1933.  He married Ruth Carrol Robinson in 1956.  The had six children.

He started working at 8 years old with his family’s business at the rodeo grounds and amusement park at Lorin Farr Park.  He graduated from Ogden High School.  He was one of the first five young men to be drafted from Ogden when the draft was re-instituted.  He served in the US Army and retired from the Civil Service at DDO.

Don enjoyed the time he lived in Alaska, coaching baseball, working with scouting, taking the whole neighborhood fishing.  He was at his happiest on the stream with a fly rod.

Don is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, their children, James (Jamie), Connie (Brad) Carson, Don Lee II “Otis”, and Scott; 18 grandchidlren, 14 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Arlene Nelson and Joyce Cheshire.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharrol (Dan) Brakefield and Lisa (Paul) Watkins.

Friends may meet family on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  No formal services will be held, cremation to follow.
