Don Schlange

September 12, 1936 ~ November 15, 2017

Don Schlange, 81, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

Don was born in Auburn, NE. He grew up in Filer, ID, where he excelled in football and basketball. In 1954, he joined the United States Navy; serving two summer tours aboard the USS Kenneth Whiting, which concluded with an honorable discharge. He then moved to Pocatello, ID where he attended Idaho State University. It was there he met and married the love of his life, Darlene Wise. They shared 57 wonderful years of marriage. Out of this union came four children, Diane (Dale) Hulet, Steven (Toni) Schlange, Trish Davenport, and Peggy (Kelly) Barton.

Don’s work ethic was beyond compare. He worked at Mollerup Moving and Storage for over 30 yrs, where his co-workers became part of his extended family. His kindness and generosity was the foundation he built his life on. He was the first person to step forward and give to anyone in need. His great sense of humor was legend and his laugh contagious.

Dad was a wonderful loving grandfather to his 10 grandchildren, his 8 greats and 1 great-great. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and greats also. His baby brother, Ronnie “Leroy” Schlange as well as a large extended family whom he loved to tease and harass. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Georgia Edwards and Mary Mayo; and son-in-law, Les Davenport.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.

This amazing man was greatly loved and cherished.
