Instead of graduating from Burley High with his classmates he enlisted in WWII. Why anyone would want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane heaven only knows but that's what he did in the Army Air Corps.
He met the love of his life, Thelma Lou Mahoney in 1947, they were married on Aug. 15, that same year in Albion, Idaho. They were married for time and all eternity on May 25, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. After graduating from SICE (Southern Idaho College of Education) with a BA in teaching and athletic sports they moved to Ogden, Utah. He was employed at Hill Air Force Base working in the computer department as a programmer. In July 1984 he retired with 33 1/2 yrs at Hill. Shortly after he decided to work as a school bus driver for Weber School District. He drove a bus for Special Needs children and once again retired 15 yrs later.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his boys, working on small engines, traveling to Quartzsite, AZ; Southern Utah ,and Seattle. His happiest times were spent holding the newest babies and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He leaves behind his wife, Thelma Lou, four children; Pam (Carlyle) Wacker of Washington, UT; Gary (Beth) of Farmington; Randy (Colleen) Toupin of Ogden, and Angela (Todd) McBee of Auburn, WA; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
