Dona Larsen Hamby Vandaveer
CLEARFIELD a" Dona Larsen Hamby Vandaveer, 89, passed away May 1, 2011 at Chancellor Gardens of heart failure.
Dona was born January 1, 1922 in Preston, Idaho to Ivan Comish and Julia Leona Ellis Larsen. Her father died when she was three months old, and she was raised by her mother and step-father, Frank Goodwin. The family moved to Utah in 1955, and she has lived in Clearfield since 1972. She married Cliff Hamby and they were later divorced. In 1959 Dona married Paul Vandaveer, and together they devoted their lives to their family.
Dona loved watching baseball and Jazz games and any sport her grandchildren played in. She loved to do embroidery, quilting, sewing, and was an avid bowler. Most of all, she loved her family and the many memories they made together.
Dona is survived by her children, Clarice Kerr, North Salt Lake; Melba (Gary) Mecham, Woods Cross; and Koral Vasquez, Clearfield; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Vandaveer and daughter Glenna Brown.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the Clearfield City Cemetery. Friends and family may meet from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. at the Lindquist''s Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State St.
