SPRINGVILLE - Donald J Barrow, 70, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 of pancreatic cancer. He was born on March 1, 1942 in Vallejo, California to Jesse T and Reva Argen Penrod Barrow. He attended schools in Tracy, California and college at Modesto Junior College, Weber State in Ogden, Utah and Stanislaus State in California.

Don married Carol Ann Simas on February 10, 1961 in Carson City, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Oakdland California LDS Temple.

He and his father ran Carbona Blacksmith and Welding in Tracy, California. He managed oil leases in Campbellsville, Kentucky. He became an English Teacher at the age of 40 and taught in Afton, Wyoming for 16 years and Tokey High School in Lodi, California for 5 years. After retiring they moved to Trinidad, California. At the time of his death they were living in Springville, Utah.

Don enjoyed writing, photography and walking on the beach. He loved teaching and loved his students. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the movies and watching old movies on the TV and seeing live stage productions. He supported local food banks where ever he lived and donated to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.

He served two stake missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was in two bishoprics in Tracy, California.

Don is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Simas; sons, Eric Donald (Angie) Barrow, Lodi, CA; Evan Dana (Lisa) Barrow, Hayfork, CA; Alec Devlyn (Irene) Barrow, Provo, UT; and Kyle Daniel Barrow, Hayfork, CA; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Ross Darren Barrow.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, West Warren Cemetery, West Warren, Utah.
