OGDEN a€" Donald Eugene Belnap 85 passed away on March 5, 2013 of natural causes.

Donald was born in Ogden, UT, on September 10, 1927, to Arias Guy and Mabel Harris Belnap. He was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1945. Following his graduation from high school, Donald entered the military and was part of the US Army occupation forces stationed in Tokyo Japan. After being honorably discharged from military service, Donald served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Central Atlantic States Mission. Following his missionary service, he attended and graduated from the University of Utah.

He married Sharon Anderson on June 12, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Sharon passed away in 2010. Together they were blessed with 6 children, 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Donald was a resident of Ogden. Following his graduation from college, Donald began his career in the Life Insurance industry as an agent and manager, first working with Metropolitan Life. In 1958 he moved his family to California and began working for California Western States Life. After living 8 years in Bakersfield, the family then moved to Granada Hills, CA. In 1970, he moved his family back to Ogden and worked for Beneficial Life as a manager and producer. Donald earned his Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow degree from the American College as well as many other awards and industry recognitions throughout his career, such as a member of the Million Dollar Round Table.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. During his lifetime he served in many callings including, a counselor in a bishopric, Bishop, stake and ward missionary and home teacher. He loved to share the gospel whenever he could.

Donald is survived by his children, Stephanie (David) Jay of Farr West; Cynthia Belnap of Layton; Don (Mary) Belnap of Ogden; Jill (Christopher, deceased) Southwick of Ogden; Lisa (Don) Brickey of Orem and Adam (Natalie) Belnap of Ogden; all his grand and great grandchildren; brother, Gordon; brothers-in-law, Duane Nay and Ralph Swenson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, his siblings and their spouses, Ralph & Helena Belnap, Lois & Eldred Erickson, Mildred & Ted Evans and Joy M. Belnap. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Shadow Valley Ward, 5191 Old Post Road, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home for the love and care that was given to our father.
