Don R. Boyce, 88, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2024, after a short bout with cancer. Don's life was a testament to enduring love, particularly his cherished marriage of 70 years to Linda Lake, whom he first dated on October 5th, 1953, and married on November 14th, 1953.
Born on October 13, 1935, in Fort Hall, Idaho to George Preston Boyce and Alice Leona Rowley. Don grew up with boundless energy and a passion for both work and play. He attended Davis High School, where he met Linda, his lifelong partner. Don loved to fish, camp, snowmobile, and build things especially their cabin.
Don served his country in the Air Force, specializing in cryptography in Alaska and at Hill Air Force Base. His entrepreneurial spirit and determination led him through various successful ventures, starting with selling adding machines and hearing aids before founding D&L Surplus and later Boyce Equipment and Parts Company.
A devoted member of the LDS faith, Don served in various church callings as well as a mission with his wife at Martins Cove, Wyoming in 2002. He exemplified compassion through his work with the less fortunate, including teaching the gospel at Davis County Jail and Utah State Prison, and mentoring troubled youth in his businesses. His generosity of spirit and dedication earned him the admiration of many.
In addition to his beloved wife Linda, Don is survived by their four sons and their families: Rick (Tammy), Mark (Debbie), Gary (Tammie), and Clay (Jamie); 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He knew them all and loved them all.
