Donald Hume

January 14, 1927 — March 20, 2018

Donald Earl Hume, 91, passed away March 20, 2018.

He was born January 14, 1927 in Salem, Utah the son of Earl and Lillie Hope Hume.  Donald graduated from San Diego High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Utah State University.

Donald married Marcella Jensen on September 17, 1952 in Springville, Utah.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Donald retired from Thiokol after 36 years of service.  During this time he worked on the Bomarc Program, Minuteman Program, MX Program and Space Shuttle.

He was a member of the LDS Church.

Donald loved horses, enjoyed hunting and herding buffalo and cattle.  He raised a Canadian Lynx named Tigger.  They had a special bond.

Surviving are his wife Marcella, sons, Richard and Gary, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, siblings, daughter Kathleen and granddaughter Andrea.

Graveside services will be held Friday, March 23, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Syracuse City Cemetery.  Friends may visit family Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
