Donald (Don) Knight Johnson

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on February 23, 2016 surrounded by his wife and family.

Don was born April 12, 1931 to Welby K. Johnson and Jennie C. Johnson, the second of four boys.  Don grew up in the Salt Lake area, graduating from South High where he was part of the football and track teams.  Don formed many great and lasting friendships which he valued.

Don served four years in the Navy on board the Epping Forest, where he learned the art of underwater welding.  After the Navy, he attended the University of Utah and made many great friends in school and as an officer in the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

After graduating from the U of U he married his sweetheart, Rose Marie Glauser, on October 23, 1959 in the Salt Lake LDS temple.  They happily welcomed eight children by birth into their home:  Lori (Roger) Nessen, Chris (Cheryl), Mike (Aimee), Greg (Jeannie), Jana (Damon) Bocchino, Jason (Charlene), Jerid (Stacie), Kim Yee (Glenn), and one by choice, Rich (Reina) Vorwaller.

Don was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully and giving service to others.  He always loved to help his fellow man.

Surviving are his sweetheart Rose Marie, his children, 27 grandchildren with 2 on the way, and 5 great-grandchildren with one on the way, his brothers Richard, George, and Steven Johnson, and many beloved brothers and sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.

A big thanks to all who gave their love and care to Don in his last days.
