Donald W. Loe
Donald W. Loe, 81, of Layton, Utah passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the George Wahlen Veterans Home. He was born February 2, 1932 to Nellie and William Loe in Georgetown, Minnesota.
He served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Air Force. He later went to work at Hill AFB, retiring from Wright-Patterson AFB in 1993.
He married Jean Fisher and was later divorced. After many years together he married Pat Lazenby.
He was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Layton Aerie. He served as the Utah State Aerie President in 1980-1981. He served as the Layton Aerie Secretary until it dissolved. He also served as the Ogden Aerie Secretary and then the State Aerie Secretary until his health deteriorated. He also served as an International Officer and a Regional President. His other interests were golf and bowling.
He is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Julie Ickes, two nieces that he helped raise, Lori (Jim) Ross and Tami (Chuck) Swanson, step-daughter D’on Lazenby, 10 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two sisters, Marlys Loe, Lorraine Pettingill and brother Bill Loe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lois Iverson and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
