Donald C. Marsing
OGDEN a" Donald Carl Marsing, 84, died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at his home.
He was born July 21, 1925 in Duchesne, Utah, a son of Carlos Batrum and Thenelda Powell Marsing. He was educated in the Duchesne City Schools.
Donald married Elorn Krebs on September 1, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 630th Tank Destroyer Battalion and fought in the Rhineland-Central Europe Campaign.
Donald was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in many callings throughout his life including a counselor in two Bishoprics and as a dedicated Home Teacher.
He worked for a variety of employers including the U.S. Forest Service, Union Pacific Railroad, and the Paramount and Orpheum Theaters. One of his greatest joys was working in the Ogden LDS Temple where he was employed for 18 years as one of the supervisors over temple maintenance.
Donald spent his youth working on his aunt''s farm and cattle ranch east of Duchesne and on the Strawberry River. Even in his later years, he looked forward to participating in the annual cattle roundup. He had a lifetime love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing among many other hobbies.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Elorn, one daughter, Linda F. (William L.) Maxwell, two sons, Carl N. (Lorene) Marsing, Dennis R. (Laraine) Marsing, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Pauline (Buddy) Bird and Carlene (Veldon) Lefler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Bernice (Earl) Brierley, three brothers, Teddy Lavon (Francis) Marsing, Kloyd L. (Claudia) Marsing, Glade Neil Marsing, Sr., and one granddaughter, Carla Maxwell.
Funeral services for Donald will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may visit with the family at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
The family would like to thank the hospice and caregivers organizations that attended to Donald.
