Donald Lincoln McDowell
LAYTON a" Donald Lincoln McDowell, 91, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born February 12, 1918 in Greybull, Wyoming the son of Gilbert Harrison and Margaret Chalfant McDowell.
Donald served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Donald married Derielle Dube on February 7, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He retired from Hill Air Force Base after 31 years of service.
He was a wonderful husband and special dad. He dearly loved everyone in his family and was devoted. Donald was always concerned about everyone''s welfare.
Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and watching all sports. He wintered in Lake Havasu, Arizona for 18 years and loved walking by the lake there.
Surviving are his devoted, loving wife Derielle of 62 years, son, Scott (Brenda) McDowell, Wentworth, SD; three daughters, Barbara Houskeeper, Ogden; Linda (Tony) Dobson, Layton; Louise (Roger) Wahlstrom, Ogden; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and brother, Richard Frary, Salt Lake City.
Preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bill, step-father, Fred Frary, two brothers, Vern McDowell, Robert Frary and sister, Margaret Pinkerton.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
The family would like to give a special appreciation to caretakers Nicole and Natalie.
