Donald “Donnie” G. Pasquini
“Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.” - Proverb
Donald “Donnie” Guy Pasquini, 48, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at his home in Layton, Utah. Donnie was born on April 23, 1966 in Ogden, Utah to parents Donald Rudy and Mary Ellen Pasquini. He grew up in Washington Terrace where he attended St. Joseph High School. As an adult, he briefly lived in Salt Lake City and then finally settled in Layton.
At a young age, Donnie cultivated a love of all things sports through his many years playing on various basketball and baseball teams and attending Ogden Raptors baseball games with his dad. His favorite teams were the Minnesota Vikings, the New York Yankees and the Boston Celtics, although, he could give you stats and scores for any sport and any team! He enjoyed watching his many sports games on television and engaging in banter with his co-workers about who was going to win.
Donnie will always be remembered for his sweet smile and infectious laugh. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. Donnie touched many lives between his family, friends and his co-workers at Smith’s in Layton. While his life was cut short too soon, we have all been blessed just by having him in our lives while he was here.
While Donnie never had children of his own, he quickly endeared himself to all the members of his wife, Debra’s, family. His mother in law, Jessie Lavon Mangum who passed away in 2012, held a particularly special place for him in her heart. He was also a “real life” hero to his granddaughters, Emeli and Hanna, who spent many weekends sleeping over and hanging out with Grandpa Donnie and Grandma Debbie.
Surviving Donnie are his wife, Debra Johnson, Layton; step daughter Amy (Brandon) Mikkelsen, Syracuse; stepson, Scott Johnson, Salt Lake City; sister Denise (Earl) Shaw, Ogden; brother Jim Jarozewski, Idaho; and his four grandchildren, Emeli, Hanna, Ian and Scott. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen Pasquini and his father, Donald Rudy Pasquini.
A funeral mass for Donnie will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Parish located at 210 Chapel Street in Layton, Utah from 10:00-11:00am. A luncheon will follow these services at Layton Commons Park (Phase I pavilion at the north end of park) located at 437 N. Wasatch Drive in Layton at 11:30am. The family has requested that donations be made to a family trust account at US Bank instead of flowers.
Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
