Donald W. Rhees
NORTH OGDEN – Donald W. Rhees, 88, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden.
He was born May 26, 1922 in Pleasant View, son of Horace Chauncey and Elisabeth Deem Rhees.
On July 31, 1942, Don married his childhood sweetheart, Juanita Judkins in the Logan LDS Temple. Juanita preceded Don in death on January 12, 2003.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the North Ogden 1st Ward. He was a member of the High Priest Group for many years. He and his wife enjoyed doing temple work during his retirement years.
Don was proud to serve as a Marine during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater for three years. He was a member of the 1st Marine Division. This was a life changing experience for him and the entire world.
He retired from Defense Depot Ogden where he had worked for many years. He loved working in his yard and took great pride in his ability to work harder than anyone in his family. He instilled a strong work ethic in his family.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Brent E. (Pamela) Rhees, Michael D. (Laura) Rhees, Suzanne R. (Lee) Copeland, Patsy J. Rackham, 21 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother, Ralph C. Rhees and one sister, Ruth Christofferson.
Preceding Don in death were his parents Horace and Elisabeth Rhees, his wife, Juanita, brothers and sisters, Melvin Rhees, Carl Rhees, Margaret Cragun, Doris Lowder; two grandchildren, Shawn Copeland, and Brian Copeland and a daughter-in-law, Ginger Rhees.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond Cemetery.
Family will visit with friends at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
