Donald “Stoney” Wheelwright
CLEARFIELD – Donald D. “Stoney” Wheelwright, 81, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at his home in Clearfield.
He was born May 13, 1928 in Ogden, a son of Henry and Phoebe May Clark Wheelwright. He attended Weber County Schools and was a graduate of Weber High School.
Stoney married Kathryn Phelps on October 26, 1957. She passed away October 6, 1977. He married Fay Bennett on August 27, 1983.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Stoney served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He retired from Hill Air Force Base where he worked for over 40 years.
Stoney loved fishing and archery. Most of all, he loved his family and they loved him.
Surviving are his wife, Fay, of Clearfield; two sons and six daughters, Thomas (Daryl) Woods, Larry Brewer, Zelma Stathis, Raejean (LaMar) Miller, Irene (Roy) Cottam, Carol (James) Price, Terry (James) Hill, Vickie (Morris) Blowers; 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are four brothers, Duane (Sherry) Wheelwright, Michael Wheelwright, Dennis (Beverly) Wheelwright, and William (Carol) Wheelwright.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Kathryn and his sister, Ruby.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
