Donna Bennett Arave, 85, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2011 from causes incident to age.
She was born January 30, 1926, the daughter of George Q. and Elva Bennett, and raised in West Point. She graduated from Davis High School.
On February 23, 1944, Donna married Don W. Arave in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived their lives and raised a family in Hooper.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and held a variety of ward and stake positions. She and Don enjoyed the years they spent working in the Ogden LDS Temple. She was active in the PTA and many community organizations. She was an avid gardener, reader and loved outdoor activities and traveling. She enjoyed, above all, her children and adored each of her grandchildren. Donna, as an adult, earned a Bachelor''s degree from Weber State University with high honors and worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Utah while she completed class work for her Master''s degree. She returned to Weber State and taught English for eight years then retired after many enjoyable years as Enrollment Coordinator at Ogden/Weber ATC.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen R. (Lynda) Arave, West Valley City; Duane D. (Suzie) Arave, Hooper; Roger B. (Kim) Arave, Eden; daughters, Ranee Johnson, Hooper; Janet (Ed) King, Hooper; 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Junior (Ruth) Bennett, West Point; and a brother-in-law, Dell Singleton, West Point; the gang from Hooper and many close friends and extended family members.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Don, her parents and two sisters, Melba Middleton and Zelma Singleton, a son, Dale G. Arave, granddaughter, Shaleen Arave, grandson, Blake Arave and great-granddaughter, Sara Young.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Hooper Homestead Ward, 5375 South 5900 West.
Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 at the church.
Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
