Donna M. Carpenter
WASHINGTON TERRACE a" Donna Mary Barnes Carpenter, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away quietly from this earthly life on Monday, August 20, 2007, of causes incident to age. She is now enjoying a glorious reunion with her husband, daughter, parents, and other loved ones.
Donna was born February 9, 1923, in Lewisville, Idaho, to Wilford and Pearl Barnes. She spent her early years in Osgood, Idaho, and graduated from Ammon High School.
She married her high school sweetheart, Vere Carpenter, on May 4, 1944, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Donna served in many positions including Relief Society president, secretary, Primary teacher, temple worker, and visiting teacher.
She was an excellent seamstress. Her hobbies included cooking, reading, quilting, scrap booking, and listening to piano music. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and dear friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharyn (Leon) Gardner, Chico, CA; Marsha (Brad) Dee, Washington Terrace; a son, Larry (Sandie) Carpenter, also of Washington Terrace; a sister, Leah Smith; two brothers, Darwin and Deb Barnes; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vere; a daughter, Valarie; sister, Joan Johnson; brother, Clifton Barnes; and great-grandson, Beckham Dee.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, at 11:30 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 12th Ward Chapel, 125 East 5350 South.
The family will visit with friends and relatives on Saturday at the ward from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
