Donna Knight Garrard

Donna K. Garrard, 85, died Thursday, December 3, 2009 in West Point, Utah.

She was born May 5, 1924 in Ogden, a daughter of John Wallace and Myrtle M. Bingham Knight. Donna was reared and educated in Ogden and Harrisville, Utah where she spent most of her life. She graduated from Weber High School.

On July 17, 1942, Donna married L. Wayne Garrard, Sr., in Malad, Idaho. Their vows were solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 29, 1943.

Donna was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in many teaching positions in Sunday School and Primary.

She worked in the school lunch programs for Weber and Ogden City Schools.

Donna enjoyed gardening, reading, and doing crossword and picture puzzles.

Donna is survived by one son, L.Wayne Garrard, Jr., Clinton; and daughter-in-law, Sheila K. Garrard, Roy; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Lynn (Marsha) Knight, North Ogden; and Byron (Janice) Knight, Harrisville.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, one son, and two grandchildren.

Thanks to all the staff and workers at Family Tree Assisted Living, Dr. Kurtis Woolf at Herefordshire Clinic and Hospice for Utah who took great care of Donna. Also thanks to Wayne, Jr. and Sheila Garrard who took care of Donna for so many years. Thank you mother for all of the love and happiness you have given your family.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 9 at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond Cemetery.
