Donna Mae Anderson Boydston Hess
August 18, 1934 – March 16, 2016
Our cherished mother, grandmother, aunt and friend completed her life’s journey on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 after a six week battle with hospital-acquired pneumonia.
Donna Mae was born on August 18, 1934 to Charles Henry and Clara Mae Fielding Anderson in Ogden, Utah. She was the youngest of three children. Donna Mae spent most of her life in Taylor, Utah. She attended the Taylor School and graduated from Weber High School.
She married Jess Boydston on May 1, 1953 and after living in Texas, Virginia and Ohio she returned to Taylor and raised four children. When they divorced she worked diligently to support her family at Grand Central, the IRS and eventually retired from Hill Air Force Base.
She married Chester Read Hess in 1983. They golfed, traveled and enjoyed 5 years together until he became ill. For the next 5 years she compassionately cared for him until his death.
Being a mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother was her greatest joy in life. All of her family members knew she loved and adored each and every one of them. We all have treasured memories of visiting her, getting FatBoys or Creamies from her freezer and her welcoming house down the dirt lane.
She was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings. She was proud of her pioneer heritage and was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a tower of strength to her family and community personifying integrity, unconditional love and acceptance.
Donna Mae is survived by her children, Kenneth Charles Boydston (Debbie), David Jay Boydston (Stacie), Larry Allen Boydston and Lisa Gilstrap (Christopher); many grandchildren and great grandchildren, cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth and her brother Fred.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Taylor 3rd Ward Chapel 2200 S 4300 W Ogden. The family will meet with friends on Thursday, March 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary 3333 W. 5600 S. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
