Donna Harris Hyer
1923 ~ 2017
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Donna Harris Hyer passed away on July 11, 2017. Donna was born on October 19, 1923 to William Henry Harris and Edna Sperry in Nephi, Utah. She was the youngest of five siblings.
She graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State University. She married Clyde Hyer on July 8, 1942 in Norfolk, Virginia. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Donna retired from the IRS. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and reading. She was a member of the Ben Lomond Ladies Association, the Mt. Ogden Ladies Association and The Barn. She was a Club Champion in 1985 and enjoyed many friendships in those associations.
Donna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in various callings. She was a member of the Riverdale 5th Ward.
Donna is survived by her two children, Georgia (Orden) Yost, Murray, UT; and Mitchell, Riverdale, UT; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; her sisters, Marjorie Burton, Lucille Coleman, Georgia Raleigh, and brother, Milton Harris.
A special thank you to her nieces, Pat Morris and Nancy Coleman, for their kind and tender care. Also thanks to the caregivers from Visiting Angels and Encompass Hospice for their loving care these past few months.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
