Donna Barton Mockli
LAYTON - Donna Barton Mockli was born September 22, 1921 in Preston, Idaho. She died this past Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield, Utah surrounded by her loving family.
Her parents were Walter K. and Jennett Maria Barton.
Donna married Leslie Karl Mockli on April 20, 1939 in Preston, Idaho, and their marriage was later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on September 22, 1939.
Donna worked at several places during her life including Thermoid Plant in Nephi, EIMCO in Salt Lake City, and then spent 30 years working as a representative and district manager for Avon Products.
Donna and Les lived in Layton, Utah for over 50 years. She loved life, people, and the Gospel. She held various church callings in her life such as dance director, relief society president, teacher, guide at the Beehive House in Salt Lake City, and worker in the Church Locator Department. Donna was also fortunate to serve two full-time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her husband. The first mission was in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the second mission was in Charleston, West Virginia. During their time in the mission field, they met many wonderful people who have become life-long friends.
Donna is survived by four children: Karlene (Garry) Bennett, Leslie Kent Mockli, Jill (Bryan) Shiffer, and Judy (Tom) Silvester, 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters: Vauna (Fred) Hegerhorst, Jeanette (Hazen Ronald) Drury, and Helen Bodily.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Karl Mockli, her parents Walter K. and Jennett Maria Barton, three brothers and three sisters.
Donna lived a long and happy life and her family and friends will miss her laughter, love, support, and warm spirit.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
Donna''s family would like to give thanks and gratitude for the love and support that staff members at Chancellor Garden''s and Thatcher Brook Hospice provided for Donna''s care. A special "Thank You" goes to Dr. Burtenshaw and staff at Tanner Memorial Clinic.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that you make a contribution to Alzhiemer''s Research, or your favorite charity.
