Donna Rae Rollins

Our dad, along with the Hosts of Heaven, rejoiced when our mother slipped gracefully through the veil on Thursday, July 10, 2008. She had a stroke on Sunday and passed away peacefully on Thursday.

Donna Rae Stevens was born into a loving family in Cowley, Wyoming, on March 14, 1927. She was the tenth of eleven children born to John Robert Stevens and H. Geneva Moore. After graduating from Cowley High School, she received her teaching certificate from the University of Wyoming. At the LDS Institute there, she met a dashing former Marine, Wayne Leon Rollins, who became her beloved eternal companion on August 28, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised five daughters and two sons.

Mom supported Dad through his schooling as he first became a teacher, then a veterinarian. They lived in Wyoming, Colorado, Kabul Afghanistan, and Utah. Mom and Dad loved to travel. She has visited six continents and been around the world. She loved her country and was proud to be an American. Everywhere she lived, Mom made many friends and served in leadership positions in the LDS Church and her community. She was an exemplary visiting teacher, even during her last years at the Harrison Regent in Ogden. She enjoyed serving people and the Lord, whom she loved very much. Wherever she was in the world, she found the Church and attended faithfully with her family. Mom was an avid BYU and Jazz fan. She loved to square dance, sing, organize a beautiful home, and especially spend time with her loved ones. She was a gracious hostess. Her home was a gathering place and everyone knew they were always welcome and could find a hot meal and a comfortable bed.

She was preceded in death by her Sweetheart, her parents, eight siblings and one granddaughter, Jenni.

Those left behind and missing her are: her children, Ramona (Richard) Mann, Roy; Muriel (Dennis) Liggett, Salem, OR; Mary (Wayne) Hirsbrunner, Roy; Annette Renae (Thomas) Finster, Roy; Beverly (Jim) Kemp, Castle Rock, CO; Derek (Yuko) Rollins, Layton; Dustin Rollins, Roy; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ira Stevens, and a sister, VerJean Baker.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Roy South Stake Center, 5725 South 3750 West.

Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center.

Interment, Roy City Cemetery.

As Mom always said to us, "I love you and you love me, that''s one thing sure".
