Donna Ruth Bott Hansen Stewart
After 90 years of a wonderful life, sharing her charity, kindness and great sense of humor with all those whose paths she crossed, and especially her family, Donna called it "good" and passed away on July 3, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was living at Avalon Care Center in Bountiful at the time of her death and superbly attended to by the Avalon Staff and Inspiration Hospice.
Donna had the special privilege of being a Christmas Eve baby and was born to her loving parents, Victor Jensen Bott and Ruth Manning on December 24, 1919 in Box Elder County. She shared her life with her three siblings, Victor Wayne, Mesa, AZ; and Margaret Phipps, Spokane, WA; and sister Louise, who passed away in infancy. They all grew up in Brigham City, Utah. Mom graduated from Box Elder High School where she was a color guard "Bee Ette", class officer and then attended Utah State University where she was chosen Sweetheart of Sigma Chi.
After growing up in Brigham City, mother married Wynn L. Hansen, in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Clearfield most of their married life, where they started and raised their own family. They later divorced.
In 1971, Gale Stewart courted mom and they spent the next 21 years together, traveling and enjoying the country from the comfort of the Stewart motor home. When not traveling, they took up residency in Kaysville.
Mom was a member of the LDS church and served in a variety of positions in addition to providing a firm foundation of the gospel to her children and encouraging their dedication to the Gospel.
Mom was a loving, sharing and outgoing person who attracted friends who lasted a lifetime. Her "bridge club" friends were highlighted on a couple of occasions in the local newspapers as they celebrated over 54 years of gathering in various places to play bridge and catch up on all their family happenings. Several cats and dogs found Mom to be their "best friend" also; Chi-Chi, Sam, Murphy, Missie, Heidi and Shotzy to name just a few.
Starting with her children and continuing with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mom was ALWAYS offering help in any way she could, with a dollar here and there, an afghan especially crocheted for them, and, OF COURSE, a steady supply of roses from her rose garden. Now, what routinely made all this even more wonderful was Mom''s sense of humor to brighten a day, give a lift to a spirit or just to make you and her laugh hysterically until the Kleenexes were exhausted to handle the tears of laughter. Solid advice was always provided to her family. A prime example she routinely gave to her daughters and granddaughters a" "Always lock your doors, put on your seatbelt, park under a light and call me when you get home."
Mom is survived by Judy Millard, Salt Lake; Wynn L. Hansen II, (Karen), Layton, UT; David Brent Hansen, Oroville, CA; Marge Barrus (Ryan), Layton, UT; and JoAnn Sackett (Mark), Kaysville, UT; brother Wayne, sister Margaret, 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Louise and spouses.
The family would like to express special thanks to the wonderful, caring staff at Avalon Care Center and Inspiration Hospice, her LDS ward, especially her home teacher, Bishop Kent Hinckley.
The funeral service in Mom''s honor will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Mom has requested a donation to your favorite charity.
To take one of Mom''s favorite sayings to all her children and throw it right back at ya Mom, "Love ya all the monies!!"
