Donna Jean Thyfault, 90, passed away January 7, 2013 at the home of her son.

She was born August 23, 1922 in Concordia, Kansas to Leslie Robert and Viola Mae Cyphers Schleuder. She was the second child of seven and remained close to her three brothers and three sisters throughout their lives.

On April 28, 1938, Donna married Ferdinand Albert Thyfault in Concordia, Kansas. They left Kansas soon after their marriage living briefly in California and then Oregon; LaGrande first and then Pendleton where they resided for over 40 years. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1993.

She worked as a salesperson in the New York Store for over 25 years.

Donna and Fergie raised five children during their marriage, Marion (Pat) Thyfault, San Pedro, CA; E''Louise (Doug) McCormick, Klamah Falls, OR; Dianna Lee Thyfault (deceased); Dr. Alberta Jean Thyfault, (deceased); and Dennis (Kathy) Thyfault, Hooper, UT. Above all Donna loved being a mother and wife and providing for her family.

She was growing and preserving her own food long before if became fashionable. She spent endless hours in her vegetable and flower gardens and never passed up an opportunity to go fishing. For many years, Donna and Fergie baked and delivered homemade bread to elderly friends, followed by Saturday night dancing for hours at the Eagles in Pendleton.

Donna was a devout member of the Catholic Church and volunteered in all the parishes she attended throughout her life. She was also a member of the Catholic Altar Society. She worked many hours helping in her daughter''s (Alberta Thyfault) special needs classroom, and helping patients at the State Hospital with craft projects. One of Donna favorite hobbies was any type of crafting. She often hosted a craft club in her home and will always be remembered by friends and family for the many beautiful homemade gifts she shared so generously. She received the "Good Neighbor Award" from the Tutuilla Home Extension, where she served as Vice-president and Project Leader. She was Blue Bird Leader, served in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, PTA Leader and Grange Leader.

In addition to her immediate family Donna has 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest East Cemetery, LaGrande, Oregon, under the direction of Loveland Funeral Chapel.

The family will meet with friends Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
