DONNA MARIE ALLGOOD WILLIAMSON

1940 - 2020

Donna Marie Allgood Williamson passed quietly from this life into the arms of her Heavenly Father on May 30, 2020. She was the second of nine children in the family of Marvin Lester Allgood and his wife, Hollis Marie Day Allgood. She was born June 14, 1940 in Grand Junction CO. In 1943 the family moved to Sahara Village and later Verdiland Park in Layton, Utah. Donna’s early memories included helping deliver newspapers to the residents of the Village, and of summer’s spent with her sisters at her grandmothers’ in Grand Junction and Moab.

She attended Davis High School where she participated in the Rifle Club and met her high school sweetheart, Lynn Clark Williamson. They were married March 3, 1958. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden, UT temple. Soon after their marriage they moved into a small rented apartment that had been remodeled from a chicken coop. She had fond memories of their small apartment, but the growing family made a move necessary and they soon bought a small house on Aircraft Avenue, where they lived until 1974, when they moved to their current home.

Shortly after her marriage, she began working on the Minuteman Missile Guidance System at Sperry and later transferred to Hill Air Force Base, where she also became active in the AFA. She later transferred to the FAA as an electronic and radar technician servicing many of the navigation sights along the Wasatch Front.

Donna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions with the young women and Relief Society organizations. Her favorite callings were as cook and advisor at the Stake Girls’ Camp at Lake Lyman.

In her later years Donna’s greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and her great grand children, as well as all her nieces and nephews and their children. Her genuine love and warmth will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lynn Clark Williamson, brothers Marvin Dee (J C) Allgood of Gambrills, MD; Harold Bruce (Karen) Allgood of Bountiful, UT; Thomas Wayne (Dixie) Allgood of Layton, UT; and Robert Delwayne (Doris) Allgood of Riverdale, UT; sisters Betty Joan Kingsbury Oliver of Bountiful, UT; and Barbara Jean (Ray) Snow of St George, UT. Her five children, Terre Lynn (Paul) Christiansen of Roy, UT; Shelly Marie Williamson of Layton, UT; Vaughn Clark (Ellen) Williamson of Covington, KY; Terresa Deon (Douglas) Slade of Kaysville, UT; and Marty Keith Williamson of Layton, UT; 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Lester and Hollis Marie Day Allgood, two brothers Larry and Jerry Allgood and a grandson, Tyson Brant Horton.
