Dora Boman

December 31, 1933 — March 28, 2018

Our Loving mother Dora Elizabeth Gittins Boman 84 returned to her Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with dementia on March 28, 2018. She was born December 31, 1933 at home on the family farm in Smithfield, Utah to Thomas Henry and Katie Louise Stone Gittins, the 9th of 13 children.

She grew up in humble circumstances thinning beats on the family farm and working outside the home for extra money.

She was an active member to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She married Asel B Boman on March 6, 1953. Their vows were later solemnized in the LDS Ogden Temple.

Dora taught her children by example to work hard and be self reliant.  She worked at grocery stores in Layton where she settled with her family. She retired from the IRS after working 26 years, to care for a son-in-law and then her husband who suffered from brain injuries.

She loved to play softball and sing.  She enjoyed cooking and gardening. A family favorite was her bottled sweet pickles and pears.  We all enjoyed her wonderful family dinners and her buttermilk rolls.  Many happy times were had on family camping and boating trips.

She is survived by her children, Vickie Boman Schwab, Lu Ann (Jeff) Hardy, and Trent A (Manuela) Boman, one sister and two brothers. She has 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Dora is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers James , Albert, Leland, Loyal, Paul Gittins, sisters, Violet Gittins, Grace Gamble, Viola Wright, Annetta LaMont, son in laws, Wm Kirby Mosser, Dennis L Cavanee, Robert L Schwab and granddaughter in-law Candace Clark Mosser.

The family wishes to thank the loving and caring staff at Chancellor Gardens and Comfort Worx Hospice.
